OK, in canada, it is cold and they need to heat their homes. But they will emit less CO2 if there is a cost against this CO2; they can isolate their homes, they can wear hotter clothes or target a colder average temperature inside the house. All these improvementrs will take place if the cost of the pollution caused by CO2 exists thanks to a carbon tax, that could raise progressivly up to 1,5US$ per gas litter.
So this politician is not serious when he tells us that we need to be serrious against global warming.
The carbon tax with dividend will help poor people to pay this tax and will take a lot of money to the big polluters who generally speaking are the wealthy people flying all over the world, using big cars and big homes, and buying a lot of food and stuff coming from all over the world.
In France, our organisation, TACA (Taxe au Carbone Ajouté) thinks that the dividend (redistribution on a strict equal basis) must concern half of the global tax income (the other half is needed to fund the actions against global warming; new technology, help for poor countries and poor people, they are umerous projects.
