Another Example of Politics Killing the Carbon Tax Idea:
The “Think Progress” clip is another example of how devotion to politics is killing the Carbon Tax proposal.
People on both sides of the political aisle agree that a carbon tax is a good idea. But once you’ve generated the money, both sides want to give it to their political base.
Democrats want to distribute it to the “people” in a way that will seem like a big gift to lower income folks, who traditionally vote Democratic. Republicans want to use it to bring down the deficit, so that taxes can be reduced, which is a much bigger benefit to the wealthy.
Neither group seems willing to have the money placed into a fund that is used to pay directly and exclusively for actual damage caused by climate change, or for measures needed to protect against impending damage.
Clearly, both groups are more dedicated to pleasing their political base than they are to saving the environment.

Shame on you both!
