The “flip side” of CTC’s advocacy for carbon taxes is our conviction that other policy options will fall short — some of them woefully — unless they are joined or backstopped by a carbon tax.
The following linked sub-pages support our belief that neither subsidies reform, nor campaigns to press divestment from fossil fuels, EPA regulation of CO2 as a pollutant, nor energy-efficiency standards, nor cap-based permit programs will be able to deliver substantial emission reductions nearly as affordably, massively and predictably as a carbon tax:
- Subsidies Reform
- Divestment Campaigns
- Cap and Trade
- Environmental Regulation
- Energy-Efficiency Standards
